Work Experience

Mon 15th March 10
On the first day of my work exp I met 2 members of staff. One of the gallery co-ordinators and a casual worker. I was inducted and then we started the task for the day. We dismounted and packed the last exhibition.
During the morning I carefully packed all the handmade jewellery to return to the artist all over the U.K. Everything was catalogued and recorded as returned or sold. All the pieces were on a sale or return basis. If any items were sold the gallery forwarded on the monies to the artists. This also applied to items in the shop.
I got the chance of handling some very fine pieces of jewellery. A couple of the artists work was kept back for the new exhibition. I was asked to re-arrange this work in other cabinets.
In the afternoon another student joined us from Runshaw college. She is studying her fine art foundation degree.
The staff were open to questions and were helpful and friendly. It was a busy day.
