Thurs 18th March 10
Today we started by painting a large display board.
It's only when you start looking at what you have to display that you realise the task ahead isn't an easy one! There is alot of juggling about for space.
We were asked to look at the exhibits in the bottom gallery. Each artist had a wall hanging and a 3D item which complimented each other.
We had to think about how we wanted to display the work eg for the 3D items a plinth or a shelf. Space in between works etc.
In the afternoon we started mounting this work under the guidance of the co-ordinator. This involved a hammer, nails, fishing line, a spirit level and very specific instructions from some of the artists.
There is alot of standing back looking and you hold this while i look etc to get it perfectly right. The height to be considered for children or wheelchair users.
This was a very useful and interesting exercise. We managed to mount most of the work.
